These Terms and Conditions ("Terms", "Agreement") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User",
"you", "your") and ThinkLikeLaw ("Company", "we", "us", "our") governing your access to and
use of the ThinkLikeLaw website, platform, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THE SERVICE. BY CREATING AN ACCOUNT, ACCESSING, OR
USING THE SERVICE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ALL OF THESE TERMS, YOU
MUST NOT USE THE SERVICE.
1. Definitions and Interpretation
1.1 Definitions
In these Terms, the following definitions apply:
- "Account" means your registered user account on the Service.
- "AI Tools" means the artificial intelligence-powered features of the Service, including
but not limited to Interpret AI, Issue Spotter, Essay Marking, and Podcast generation.
- "Content" means all text, data, images, audio, and other materials made available
through the Service.
- "Free Tier" (also referred to as "Scholar") means the unpaid subscription tier
entitling the User to limited access to the Service as described in clause 5.
- "Intellectual Property Rights" means all patents, rights to inventions, utility models,
copyright and related rights, trade marks, service marks, trade and business names, rights in domain
names, rights in get-up, goodwill, rights to sue for passing off, rights in designs, database rights,
rights in confidential information, and all other intellectual property rights.
- "Paid Subscription" means the Monthly Brief or Annual Brief subscription tiers.
- "User Content" means any content you upload, submit, create, or make available through
the Service, including but not limited to essays, notes, lecture materials, and text prompts.
1.2 Interpretation
- The headings in these Terms are for convenience only and shall not affect their interpretation.
- A reference to legislation includes any statutory modification or re-enactment thereof.
- Unless the context otherwise requires, words in the singular include the plural and vice versa.
2. Eligibility and Account Registration
2.1 Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service. By registering for an Account, you
represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 16 years of age;
- You have the legal capacity to enter into this Agreement;
- All information you provide during registration is accurate, complete, and current;
- You will maintain the accuracy of such information.
2.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your Account credentials;
- All activities that occur under your Account, whether or not authorised by you;
- Notifying us immediately at support@thinklikelaw.com of any unauthorised use of your
Account or any other breach of security.
We shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this clause.
2.3 Account Restrictions
Each User may only maintain one Account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate Accounts where we
reasonably believe you have created multiple Accounts, provided fraudulent information, or otherwise
violated these Terms.
3. Description of the Service
3.1 Educational Purpose
ThinkLikeLaw is an AI-powered legal education platform designed to assist law students with
their studies. The Service provides tools for case analysis, revision, essay feedback, note-taking, and
audio-based learning.
3.2 No Legal Advice Disclaimer
THE SERVICE DOES NOT PROVIDE LEGAL ADVICE. All content, analyses, summaries, and outputs
generated by the Service are for educational and informational purposes only. They:
- Do not constitute legal advice, legal opinion, or legal representation;
- Should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional legal advice from a qualified solicitor or
barrister;
- May contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies;
- Should be independently verified against authoritative legal sources.
ThinkLikeLaw shall not be liable for any decisions, actions, or omissions made in reliance on content
generated by the Service.
3.3 AI-Generated Content
Content generated by our AI Tools is produced by artificial intelligence models. You acknowledge and agree
that:
- AI-generated content may not always be accurate, complete, or up to date;
- AI outputs are not authoritative legal texts and should be used as study aids only;
- You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of any AI-generated content;
- We do not guarantee any specific academic outcome from the use of the Service.
4. Acceptable Use
4.1 Permitted Use
You may use the Service solely for lawful, personal, educational purposes in accordance with these Terms.
4.2 Prohibited Conduct
You shall not, and shall not attempt to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- Submit AI-generated content as your own original academic work (academic dishonesty);
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code of the
Service;
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security-related features of the Service;
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' Accounts or our systems;
- Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code;
- Use the Service to infringe upon the Intellectual Property Rights of any third party;
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicence access to the Service;
- Use the Service in a manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our servers or networks;
- Exploit the Service to generate content for commercial legal services;
- Circumvent AI credit limitations through technical manipulation;
- Share, transfer, or sell your Account to any third party.
4.3 Academic Integrity
You acknowledge that many universities have policies regarding the use of AI tools in academic work. It is
your sole responsibility to ensure that your use of the Service complies with your
institution's academic integrity policies. ThinkLikeLaw is designed as a study aid, not a
tool for producing submitted coursework.
5. Subscription Plans and AI Credits
5.1 Free Tier (Scholar)
The Free Tier provides limited access to the Service, including:
- Access to 2 module previews;
- Daily news brief;
- 1,000 AI Credits per calendar month;
- Limited AI tool functionality.
5.2 Paid Subscriptions
Paid Subscriptions ("Monthly Brief" at £8.99/month, "Annual Brief" at £80.00/year) provide:
- Full module access;
- AI case summaries;
- 10,000 AI Credits per calendar month;
- All AI tools unlocked.
5.3 AI Credits
- AI Credits are consumed when you use AI-powered features of the Service;
- Different features consume different amounts of credits based on computational complexity;
- Unused AI Credits do not roll over to the following month;
- AI Credits cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged for cash or other value;
- We reserve the right to adjust AI Credit allocations with reasonable notice.
5.4 Credit Allocation Changes
We reserve the right to modify AI Credit allocations, costs per operation, and tier limits. We will provide
at least 30 days' notice of any material changes to credit allocations for Paid
Subscriptions, and such changes will take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.
6. Payment and Billing
6.1 Payment Processing
Payments are processed by Stripe Payments UK Ltd. By subscribing to a Paid Subscription, you
agree to Stripe's Terms of Service. You represent and warrant that you are
authorised to use the payment method provided.
6.2 Billing Cycle
- Monthly Subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly basis from the date of initial
subscription.
- Annual Subscriptions are billed on a recurring annual basis from the date of initial
subscription.
- All prices are quoted in British Pounds Sterling (£ GBP) and are inclusive of
applicable VAT (where required).
6.3 Price Changes
We reserve the right to modify subscription prices at any time. Price changes for existing Paid Subscriptions
will take effect at the start of the next billing cycle following at least 30 days' prior written
notice to you via email.
6.4 Failed Payments
If a payment fails, we will attempt to process the payment again. If payment continues to fail after
three (3) attempts, your subscription may be suspended or downgraded to the Free Tier. We
will notify you of any payment failures.
7. Cancellation and Refunds
7.1 Cancellation by You
- You may cancel your Paid Subscription at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal accessible from
your Account settings.
- Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain
access to paid features until that date.
- Upon cancellation, your Account will revert to the Free Tier.
7.2 Refund Policy
- In accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges)
Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you have a
14-day cooling-off period from the date of your first subscription purchase to request
a full refund.
- To request a refund during the cooling-off period, contact support@thinklikelaw.com.
- After the cooling-off period, refunds are not available for partially used billing periods.
- If you have actively used the Service during the cooling-off period and request a cancellation, we may
deduct a proportionate amount for the services already provided.
Nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
7.3 Cancellation by Us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your Account and access to the Service if:
- You breach any provision of these Terms;
- We are required to do so by law;
- We reasonably believe your Account has been compromised;
- You have engaged in fraudulent activity.
Where we terminate your Account for breach, no refund shall be due for any remaining subscription period.
8. Intellectual Property
8.1 Our Intellectual Property
All Intellectual Property Rights in the Service, including but not limited to the website design, code,
algorithms, AI models, branding, logos, and all original educational content, are and remain the exclusive
property of ThinkLikeLaw. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or interest in such
Intellectual Property Rights, except the limited licence to use the Service as expressly set out herein.
8.2 Your Content
- You retain all Intellectual Property Rights in User Content that you upload to the Service.
- By uploading User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, revocable
licence to process, store, and analyse such content solely for the purpose
of providing and improving the Service.
- We will not sell, distribute, or otherwise exploit your User Content for any purpose other than as
described in this clause and our Privacy Policy.
- You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to all User Content you upload, and
that such content does not infringe any third party's Intellectual Property Rights.
8.3 AI-Generated Outputs
Content generated by our AI Tools in response to your inputs is provided for your personal educational use.
You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated outputs may not be unique and similar outputs may be generated for other users;
- We do not claim ownership of AI-generated outputs provided to you;
- You are responsible for your use of AI-generated content and compliance with your institution's academic
policies.
9. Limitation of Liability
9.1 Exclusion of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without
warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory;
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from viruses or
other harmful components;
- We disclaim all implied warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability,
fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9.2 Cap on Liability
Subject to clause 9.3, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or in connection
with these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of:
- The total fees paid by you to us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event
giving rise to the claim; or
- £100.
9.3 Nothing Excluded
Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- Any liability which cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law.
9.4 Consequential Losses
We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including
but not limited to loss of profits, data, grades, academic standing, business opportunities, or goodwill,
even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ThinkLikeLaw, its officers, directors, employees, and
agents from and against all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable
legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:
- Your use of the Service;
- Your violation of these Terms;
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- Your User Content, including any claim that your User Content infringes any Intellectual Property Rights
of a third party;
- Any academic misconduct arising from your misuse of the Service.
11. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance of our obligations under these Terms where
such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited
to:
- Acts of God, natural disasters, epidemics, or pandemics;
- War, terrorism, civil unrest, or government action;
- Power failures, internet outages, or telecommunications failures;
- Third-party service provider outages (including Supabase, Stripe, or AI model providers);
- Cyberattacks, including DDoS attacks;
- Changes in applicable law or regulation.
12. Termination
12.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your Account at any time by contacting support@thinklikelaw.com. Upon termination, you will lose access
to all data associated with your Account, subject to our retention obligations under our Privacy Policy.
12.2 Effect of Termination
Upon termination of your Account:
- Your licence to use the Service shall immediately cease;
- We may delete your User Content after 30 days (unless we are required by law to retain it);
- Any outstanding fees shall remain due and payable;
- Clauses which by their nature are intended to survive termination shall continue in full force and
effect, including clauses 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, and 15.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
13.1 Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and
Wales.
13.2 Jurisdiction
The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising out of or in
connection with these Terms. However, if you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of
the country in which you are domiciled.
13.3 Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under English law, including but not
limited to the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional
Charges) Regulations 2013.
14. Dispute Resolution
14.1 Informal Resolution
Before initiating any formal proceedings, you agree to first contact us at support@thinklikelaw.com
and attempt to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days.
14.2 Alternative Dispute Resolution
If we are unable to resolve a dispute informally, you may refer the matter to an approved alternative dispute
resolution (ADR) provider. For EU/UK consumers, the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform
may be available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
15. General Provisions
15.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any supplemental terms, constitute the entire agreement
between you and ThinkLikeLaw regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, communications, and
proposals.
15.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent
jurisdiction, that provision shall be severed from these Terms and the remaining provisions shall continue
in full force and effect.
15.3 Waiver
No failure or delay by us to exercise any right or remedy provided under these Terms or by law shall
constitute a waiver of that or any other right or remedy, nor shall it prevent or restrict the further
exercise of that or any other right or remedy.
15.4 Assignment
You may not assign, transfer, or sub-contract any of your rights or obligations under these Terms without our
prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms to any third party without
restriction.
15.5 Third-Party Rights
These Terms do not confer any rights on any person or party (other than the parties to these Terms) pursuant
to the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
15.6 Notices
Any notice required to be given under these Terms shall be in writing and shall be deemed to have been duly
given when sent by email to the email address associated with your Account (for notices to you) or to legal@thinklikelaw.com (for
notices to us).
16. Amendments
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by:
- Posting the updated Terms on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date;
- Sending an email notification to registered users where the changes are material.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any modifications constitutes your acceptance
of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with any modification, you must stop using the Service and
terminate your Account.
